A 3D printable robust, durable and efficient standard Bench Double Drawer unit, consisting of two medium duty drawers sized 257 mm wide X 270 mm depth X 60 mm hight ( ~10 1/8” X ~10 5/8” X ~2 3/8”), in a four-sided frame, suitable for mounting under a standard workbench or in a cabinet.
The project specifically takes advantage and utilizes the build volume of larger hobbyist 3D printers, such as the “Creality CR10” 3D printer and others, with a build area of at least 300 mm X 300 mm (~ 11.8” X 11.8”) or larger. It is optimized to be printed using a 0.6 mm nozzle, but can also be printed using a standard 0.4 mm nozzle.
Our internal testing showed that a 0.6 mm nozzle printing at a 0.3 mm layer hight and a 0.75 mm extrusion width on a “CR10” provides adequate printing resolution for most parts of this project, while cutting the print time down to approximately 1/3 of the print time when using a typical 0.4 nozzle.
The two exceptions are the Drawer’s Front Face Plate and the Drawer’s Wheels, which benefits when using a 0.6 mm nozzle at a layer height of 0.2 mm.
The parts can be easily 3D printed, without any support, on a modern inexpensive larger 3D Printer. They can be printed with a variety of materials, including PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA and many other types of printable materials.
PLA works well for this application as long as the parts will not be used, stored or kept at in a high temperature environment, exceeding ~55 C (~ 130 F). It is easy to print. The object should be durable, easy to maintain, and last for a long time.
PETG should work as well for applications where the unit will be subjected to higher temperatures such as if it is mounted in a work van during the summer.
Included with this project is a detailed instruction manual in PDF format.

Recommended Print Settings with a .6 mm Nozzle
We recommend using a .6 mm nozzle for this project.
Our recommended settings extrude the filament about 3 times faster then when using a standard .4 mm nozzle at the same printing speed of 40~50 mm per second depending on your actual printer.
To completely melt the filament when using a .6 mm nozzle on the standard “CR10” hot-end, it may be necessary to augment the printing temperature by 10 ~ 15 degrees Celsius form what your printer would normally be set to, when using a .4 mm nozzle; i.e. for PLA, our printer gets the best results extruding at at speed of 50 mm per second and a temperature of ~225C , depending on the actual PLA filament used.
Printing at a slower pace than normal (< 40 mm per second) or using a different hot-end such as an “E3D Volcano” would probably not require this increase in extrusion temperature.
Please feel free to experiment to determine the best extrusion temperature and speed for your actual printer and nozzle before starting the project.
Settings for Most Parts with a 0.6 nozzle
- Extrusion Width: .75 mm
- Extrusion Speed: 40~50 mm per second (depending on your actual printer)
- Layer Height: .3 mm
- 3 perimeters or shells (2.25 mm)
- 8 bottom layers (2.4 mm)
- 9 top layers ( 2.7 mm)
- Infill: 15~20% depending on infill type
