This unique clawfoot bathtub shaped indoor plant pot and matching bathroom tile-look saucer is perfect for succulents and other small plants. With a drainage hole in the bottom, this claw foot tub planter is perfect for succulents and other small plants, and a fun novelty pot adds a touch of whimsical maximalist charm to any home decor.
Suitable for PLA or PETG. Silk filament is recommended for the feet. You can probably size this up somewhat - I wouldn't recommend sizing down much or the feet might not fit.
The tub requires a small amount of support on the connections to the feet. You may also want to use support enforcers or paint on support for the very bottom of the tub, if you have problems with quality on the lowest parts - or you can use a much finer layer height for those parts. The rest of the tub can be printed with coarse layers. Randomize seams for best results. A very slight fuzzy skin can make the outside of the tub seem more realistic and hides layer lines, seams, and imperfections. 2 perimeters is enough to ensure the pot is watertight.
The feet should be printed upright, as they are in the file. They require a small amount of support for the "tab" at back, and you may wish to use a raft and enforce support around the base of the ball, to ensure good bed adhesion. Using fine layer heights of 0.15mm-ish gives more detail and is worth the increase in print time. Use aligned seams for smoother details in the carving.
To attach the feet to the tub, use cyanoacrylate (super glue), or your preferred adhesive for the filament you've used. Apply a thin coat all over the parts of the foot that touch the tub and hold firmly in place. The feet are labelled front (F), back (B), left (L) and right (R) and will only fit when they are on the correct corner - check fit before gluing.
The saucer/drip tray can be printed in one colour, or as pictured, in two - this is done via filament change and you don't need a multi-material printer. Simply print the base layers in the colour you want the small tile/grout (black in the images). Insert a filament change in your gcode (M600) after 2.1mm height and switch to the colour you want for the larger tile and walls (white in the images). Ironing can be used to smooth the tiles, but mind your settings - if you add too much material with ironing, it'll squish the tiles out over the grout.
