Compact Wind Power
Compact Wind Power

The idea of wind power is awesome, but not very compact. So i think this idea inspired me to try to shoot for an adaptable platform for wind and eventrually I will have it worked out to also be able to be used for water if there is a fast moving stream or something similar near by. I even made a mag base that has velcro straps so you can wrap it aound manything under 2" diameter. My printed version obviously had a couple slight tolerance issues but they are fixed in the STL's.
I used the 250ml RedBull can for more weather protection of the internal electronics. I did test this and the helical blade spins much faster and produces about 2-3 volts with an aircompressor nozzle. The properller version doesn't spin as fast unfortinalty. Propellar version needs a gear set up to get the rpms up there.
The usb board I had on hand works ok, but I am looking for one that will charge batteries up as well. So you can set it and forget it till needed.

Use support where applicable and dependent on orientation of print. I use supports on threaded parts like the nose cap and arms, otherwise all other parts are support free, make sure you have brims around the blades otherwise a well calibrated raft works well too.
