Descripción
Many decorative elements were added to the splendour of palaces in Nimrud. Glazed terracotta plaques were set into the walls a little above head height. They were arranged in rows of alternating squares and circles. The plaques were painted with palm leaves, pomegranates, V-shape design and interlaced bands. The designs were probably protective symbols. (Texture information missing from this scan)
From Nimrud and Tell Bila, Iraq, 875-865 BC. From the I Am Ashurbapital exhibition at The British Museum, 2019
