This Hexton Hills 'Floating City' set (pre-supports included) consists of a floating city (AL09-2 parts), a unique partly submerged water varient (AL10) and 2 unique tile bases.
Top and bottom parts of the floating city require a small amount of cleanup - Light sanding to remove support nubs is recommended. Please do this safely outside or in a well ventilated area using a mask. Superglue is required to fix the top and bottom together and attatch to a base hex.
Hexton Hills is a modular, hex based toolset for roleplaying, wargaming and worldbuilding. Designed to be printed as a single peice (the floating city doesn't count, its a rebel!) for both resin and FDM printers. Tiles can support x2 3x2mm magnets along each edge and x1 10mm magnet on its underside.
Printing notes for Resin:
For best results when printing presupported files reduce lift speed.
All files were successfully tested using a lift speed of 45 mm/min. Larger printers such as the Elegoo Saturn may need lift speeds reduced to 30 mm/min.
Confirmed successful printing settings by Graven Guild using Elegoo ABS like resin with the AnyCubic Photon S:
Layer Height: 0.05mm
Bottom Layer Count: 8
Exposure Time: 8s
Bottom Exposure Time: 50s
Layer Height: 0.02mm
Bottom Layer Count: 8
Exposure Time: 4 - 5s
Bottom Exposure Time: 30s
Confirmed successful printing settings by Graven Guild using Elegoo ABS like resin with the Elegoo Saturn:
Layer Height: 0.02mm
Bottom Layer Count: 5
Transition Layer count: 10
Exposure Time: 2.5s
Bottom Exposure Time: 30s
Bottom Lift Speed: 50mm/min
Lifting Speed: 30mm/min
Retract Speed: 210mm/min
Troubleshooting:
If peeling from the build-plate occurs this is likely due to either an insufficient bottom layer count or bottom exposure time. Increase one or both.
If the model is pulling free of its pre-supports this is most likely due to inadequate exposure time or the lift speed may need reducing. Larger printers may need lower lift speeds to compensate for increased surface suction between buildplate and FEP.
Regarding pre-supports and scaling. The supports are designed to be printed at the default 100% scale, we can't garantee they'll work if the user reduces model scale. Lowering to 75% scale should be fine.
Some pre-supported files have also been hollowed and supported internally. Reducing the scale of these may cause problems due to the reduction of wall thickness.
Of course this is all dependent on printer settings and resin types so please feel free to experiement.
Unsupported versions of all tiles are provided so users may experiment with their own scales, settings and supports.
All Resin Hexton Hill models are designed to be printed at an angle of 27.5 degrees. Elements such as angles intergrated into the design reflect this.
