Descripción
Statue is part of set of the two lions from the reign of Nectanebo I, originally located at Rehuy (present-day Tell Baqliya). They were part of a shrine to the god Thoth, symbolizing the reconciliation of Horus and Set. During the Roman Imperial Age, they were moved to Rome, possibly placed near the Pantheon or at the Temple of Isis. Rediscovered in the 15th century, Pope Clement VII placed them at the Pantheon, and later they adorned the fountain of Acqua Felice. Originals were later moved to the new Egyptian Museum.
