'Shell' holds clear intentions of appreciating the finesse of everyday natural form; the artists acts as a gatherer with an intention, a flâneur with an intrigue for appreciating natural perfection, following in the footsteps of Hans Sloane and his own shell collection. Inspired by the ocean and its organic forms, this colossal clay maquette of a seashell holds a sophisticated yet modest shape. Like Soane, Catherine is captivated by naturally beautiful objects; the coil of the shell followes the golden ratio used by Leonardo da Vinci to create proportions pleasing to the human eye.
This digital maquette of the original sculpture now opens up free reign to decorate it a countless amount of times, upload your own painted shell to this page and let us know!
