We have redesigned our best selling Space Shuttle Alpha for 2022 with the Shuttle Alpha Mk IV. A distinctive variant, the Mk IV features fixed engines, weapon emplacements, working landing gear covers, a revised cockpit design, and increased fidelity.
During the course of the campaign, we have unlocked the stretch goals shown above. For higher resolution renders, scroll down the the Stretch Goals section of the page.
Shuttle Alpha Mk IV is a 28mm scale (1:59/1 OpenLOCK tile = 1.5 m/~5 ft.) 3D printable spaceship that stylistically is at home in a multitude of science fiction universes.
It is detailed inside and out, and fits together gluelessly with the OpenLOCK clip system (clips included).
The Shuttle Alpha line has proven to be our most popular item for a reason - it's an impressive entry level ship for your 3D printed tabletop, taking only a few days to print! It might be smaller than some of our other starships, yet still provides plenty of wow factor and excitement at game time.
Here is a rundown of some of its most prominent features:
- 28mm Scale
- Modular interior - You can use any OpenLOCK tiles to customise the layout of the interior
- Removable top for easy play
- Articulated rear ramp and landing gear bay doors
- Optimised for FDM printing
- Glue-less assembly with OpenLOCK clips (included)
- Custom lighting ready
The Shuttle Alpha MKIV is over a foot long in its 1:59/28mm scale. The dimensions are as follows:
Length: 325 mm (12.7") | Width: 170 mm (6.7") | Height: 117 mm (4.6") | Weight: Approximately 775 g of PLA (8% infill)
The interior of the Shuttle Alpha MK IV consists of a series of modular OpenLOCK tiles. It is compatible with all our previously existing tile designs, and each tile fits to a 1" grid (25.4mm), the same scale used in many popular Tabletop games.
The default layout is configured to have a cockpit with a pilot seat, co-pilot seat and two passenger seats.
Behind the cockpit is a sealed cabin that contains a double bunk, WC, and a small kitchenette for extended missions.
Finally, the rear third of the shuttle is dedicated to cargo.
We have provided four build plate examples that are ready to go, sized to a Prusa Mini build plate. You can import these (not just open them, as this will override your printer type if you do not own a prusa mini) into prusaslicer, and this will keep all print orientations, print settings, required supports, and
Print time for these four print beds is approximately 117 hours, your milage may vary, depending on your printer speed. It t akes approximately 1 week to get a fully printed shuttle with a single printer.
Does not require supports except for the following:
- Alpha MKIV - Nose - With Window Frames.stl
- Alpha MKIV - Fuselage - Rear - Bottom.stl (can print support free, but will be cleaner with supports)
- Alpha MKIV - Floor - Ramp - Second Segment (requires supports).stl

These ships are the reason I wanted an FDM printer, and I finally got around to printing one out. I love the design, the fuselage clips together beautifully and I cannot wait to carry on with this project.
