A 3D printable robust and durable Tie-down Block, used to provide tie-down attach points to a “Gorilla Carts” and other similar dumping wagons, to secure oversize cargo such as branches, limbs, etc, in the cart while pulling it to its destination.
The blocks mount into the rectangular molded pockets on the top edge of the bin. Most carts have 8 such pockets, sized approximately 51 mm X 70 mm X 18.5 mm (~2” X 2.75” X .75”), with a small taper towards the bottom. Three pockets are usually on each sides and two in the front.
In my area these dumping cart are sold under many different brand names. All have a similar plastic bin including the rectangular pockets. Therefore, the design should work with most of them.
Should the object not fit properly, either too tight or too loose for the pockets in your particular cart, it can easily be scaled to fit using most slicing software.
The design is optimized for a 0.6 mm nozzle but works just as well with a standard 0.4 mm nozzle. The parts can be easily 3D printed, without any support, on a modern inexpensive 3D Printer. They can be printed with a variety of materials, including PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA and many other types of printable materials.
PLA works well for this application as long as the object will not be used, stored or kept at in a high temperature environment, exceeding ~55 C (~ 130 F).
PETG and ASA are other excellent choices.

Recommended print settings with a .6 mm nozzle
- Layer Height: .2 mm
- Line width: 0.75mm
- 4 perimeters or shells (3 mm)
- 15 bottom layers (3 mm)
- 15 top layers (3 mm)
- Infill 15%~20%, depending on infill type
Tip: For a much stronger part increase the shell thickness to 4.5 mm:
- 6 perimeters
- 23 bottom layers
- 23 top layers
Recommended print settings with a .4 mm nozzle
Note: A 0.4 mm nozzle requires a sightly larger shell to maintain the same part strength. Therefore we recommend adding one or two additional perimeters as well as one extra top and one extra bottom layer.
- Layer Height: .2 mm
- 7 perimeters or shells (3.15 ~ 3.5 mm depending on line width)
- 16 bottom layers (3.2 mm)
- 16 top layers (3.2 mm)
- Infill 15%~20%, depending on infill type
Tip: For a much stronger part increase the shell thickness to 4.5 mm:
- 10 perimeters
- 23 bottom layers
- 23 top layers
Additional items needed for assembly
- 2 M6-1.0 X 20 mm Flange Socket Screws
Assembly Instructions
Note: The block feature molded M6-1.0 X 25 mm threads as parts of its design to make it easy to assemble the parts on the cart.
1- Print enough parts to make enough objects for the number of pockets you wish to use
2- Insert the block in the molded pocket on the top edge of the cart
3- Secure the block in the pocket from bottom using the locking plate and the 2 M6-1.0 Flange Screws
4- Tighten the M6-1.0 screw just enough to fully seat them in the block
5- Do Not Overtighten!
