This is a simple 28mm scale coracle, ideal for RPG's like Dungeons & Dragons and Pathfinder, as well as historical tabletop wargaming.
Coracles were small boats (often Celtic in origin) made of hide over a light framework of laths and wickerwork - you can still see them very occasionally in Wales. They are light enough to be carried by one person.
This item has four files;
- Two versions of the coracle itself - one is waterline, one is complete. Both will sit on a tabletop with a man in, but the complete one wobbles more ! The complete one is also useful as general "scenery" for Celtic-type villages, stacked up outside a hut or piled up by the waters' edge. The waterline one is very thin at the bottom, but that shouldn't show once it's on the table.
- The coracle bench, which can be glued in - I find it easiest to paint the hull and bench separately, then glue the bench in.
- A paddle.
It works best to print the bench and coracle hulls in an upright orientation, with a brim and supports touching buildplate. The supports will be pretty minimal that way, and the orientation will give the best detail. I printed at 0.8mm row height and a fairly slow speed on an Ender 3.
The figure in the photo isn't included, he's just to give an idea of scale; he's actually one of Dutchmogul's excellent Tavern patrons, looking just glum enough to be a fisherman.
