This is a ashtray replacement cupholder designed for a Porsche 944 with the late style interior.
I had seen a couple replacements for early interiors as well as some poor replacements for the the late interior and decided to take it upon myself to design something I would be happy putting in my car.
The cup holder has been designed to be easy to install requiring no modification to the car (besides removing the ashtray) or to the prints. On the right side is a fixed lip which slides over the existing mount in the vehicle. On the left side is an opening which allows the insertion of a small printed plug that retains the cupholder in the opening. The cupholder should be inserted using a rocking motion putting the right side in first and then bringing the left side down and inserting the pin.
Similar to other designs the cupholder is a separate piece from the base and can be removed for space and aesthetics when not in use.
Support is only needed on the upper and lower lips around the top.
Recommended to print this with at least 3 walls for strength and out of a filament with greater heat resistance than PLA due to the fact this will be spending time in an automobile where it may be exposed to extreme heat.
some filing may be required on the right hand side for perfect fit, it should fit well enough as is but if you want it perfect it may take a little post processing
