A 3D printable robust and durable RX-100 Camera Case storage box, designed to securely store a Sony RX-100 camera along with the battery charger and 3 batteries.
The parts can be easily 3D printed, without any support, on a modern inexpensive 3D Printer. They can be printed with a variety of materials, including TPU PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA and many other types of printable materials.
TPU works very well for this application. It is easy to print. The object should be durable, easy to maintain, and protect the camera for a long time.
Other flexible filaments should also work for this applications.
PLA should work as well as long as the parts will not be used, stored or kept at in a high temperature environment, exceeding ~55 C (~ 130 F), such as a parked car in the hot summer months.
Recommended print settings with a .4 mm nozzle
- Layer Height: .15~.16 mm depending on your printer
- 3 perimeters or shells (1.35 ~ 1.5 mm)
- 9 bottom layers (1.35~ 1.45 mm)
- 9 top layers (1.35~1.45 mm)
- Infill 15%~20%, depending on infill type
Notes:
Two separate covers are provided. One has a slightly wider rim. Use the one that works best with your printer.
I find that TPU filament prints best when completely dry!
In the high humidity environment I live in (North Florida), I must use a filament drying system wile printing TPU. Otherwise, it absorbs moisture from the air like a sponge and print quality suffers after just a few minutes (20 minutes or so) of printing.
