Boilers work differently on a spaceship compared to a typical ship. They are heat exchangers that use leftover heat from other processes on the spaceship and redirect it to another heat exchanger, where the heat is transferred to cold water or other fluids for storage or usage. In some cases, hostile boarding parties may attempt to hack into these systems and use the redirected heat as a weapon against their enemies.
