Love my baby dragon!
The liquid the dragon is bathing in seems to be sculptor's creative addition and/or a trick to simplify the model. I wasn't able to find any real wold similarities of this liquid with pictures of hatching reptiles found on the internet.
Anyway, I rolled with it. Baby dragons have very soft hide when they emerge from the shell. They expose parts of their body to the world to allow the their hide to harden, while absorbing nutrients from the liquid.
