This bust of Alexander II shoulder length, facing forward, wearing the epaulettes of Nicholas I, on a waisted socle, with Cyrillic inscription to the truncation. Alexander II (1818-1881) was the son and successor of Nicholas I. The bust is perhaps a commemorative edition after his assassination in 1881.
The artist Matvei Chizhov, russian sculptor who studied at the Stroganov art-industrial school in Moscow (1856−57), Moscow school of painting, sculpture and architecture (1857−60), and St. Petersburg Academy of arts (1860−67). S. Pimenov and P. K. Klodt, member of the Academy of arts (1893). He taught at the Central school of technical drawing of Baron Stieglitz in St. Petersburg(1879−1910).
