Description
Domitian was a Roman Emperor from 81 to 96 AD. His portrait was created on occasion of his accession to power and remained valid for the entire duration of his reign. His hair, brushed forwards onto the forehead, served two purposes. Firstly, it covered his baldness, secondly, they were a sign of an elegant hairstyle, fit for an emperor.
