My kids wanted to dress up as Captain Toad and Toadette this Halloween so I designed and printed a few props!
Arguable the defining characteristic of Captain Toad is his headlamp. Using the game as reference I designed a similar headlamp in Fusion360.
My Captain Toad Pickaxe can be found here: https://www.myminifactory.com/object/3d-print-78351
Print comes in 4 parts:
1x Base
1x Body
1x Lens
1x Buckle
You'll also need:
- an appropriate length of 20mm wide elasticated band.
- M3 or M4 x 20mm bolt and matching nut (to join the body to the base)
I just used CA glue (Superglue) to attach the elasticated band to the base and then used the buckle as a means to tighten/loosen the ends of the band.
It's also a good idea to put a little bit of glue on the ends of the elastic if you need to cut it to stop it from fraying.
There's a cavity in the body so you could potentially put an actual light in there if you printed the lens in a transparent/translucent material.
You may need to make use of your slicers horizontal size compensation feature if you find the lense doesn't fit quite inside the body.
Print's in the photo were done with 2 shells and 15% infill in PLA.
