John Frost bust at Newport Museum in South Wales, UK

This is a scan I made of the bust of John Frost while visiting Newport Museum and Art Gallery in South Wales. He was one of the leaders of the Chartist movement in Victorian South Wales, fighting for the rights of common people to vote and stand for parliament. After the Chartist uprising in Newport in 1839 he was arrested and, with the other two Chartist leaders, was the last person to be sentenced to be hanged, drawn and quartered in Britain.
Fortunately the sentence was later reduced to transportation for life due to a public outcry. Much later he was also pardened and eventually returned from Australia, via the United States, to live his later life near Bristol, until dying aged 93 in 1877. So overall he was a big part of history around the growth of democracy in the UK, as well as being a very important part of the history of the City of Newport. And if you're a fan of Jasper Fforde's excellent books you might also recognise John Frost as the fictional father of the Socialist Republic of Wales (http://www.jasperfforde.com/sovietreppage2.html).

Three STL files are included. Two are simple solid versions suitable for hot-filament deposition 3D printers, one with a mounting hole in the base and one without. The other is a shell version suitable for UV-cured resin printers. It has two small holes on the back to prevent suction pulling the model off the build plate and for resin drainage. I've had good results resin printing the shell without any supports which reduces the work involved in post-processing. Also included is a small pedestal model I designed in OpenSCAD for the bust to sit on, although its' use is completely optional.

The scan was done using the Sony 3D Creator app on my Xperia XZ1 Compact smartphone. It doesn't pick up all of the fine details but it did a good job of creating a usable 3D representation.
