I wanted to put some stiffer springs on an older Nikko RC car I was upgrading. The ones I had were just slightly smaller diameter than the stock ones. So I worked a version of it up in 3D and printed a few versions to get what I needed.
The diameter of the spring hub is .64 mm or 1/4 inch so you will need around that for an ID of the spring to get proper clearance unless you tweak it some. Clean the printed parts with some light sanding, and test fit the shock components and make sure it compresses freely before you cut, glue, and insert a small pin to keep the shock assembled. Make sure the pin doesn't extend beyond the central spring hub to interfere with compression (about 6.4 mm)
Only requires minimal support material and you should probably print in orientation file comes in. Happy bashing!
print in orientation with support from buildplate.
I printed mine with 4 wall shell, .2 mm layer height, and 10% infill. Took about 22 minutes.
