Welcome to Tulum!
We continue The Ancient Ruins Collection--Mesoamerica, a dedicated subcollection to the legacy of past civilizations.
El Castillo (The Castle) is the tallest building in the ancient Mayan city of Tulum (Tulu'um), in the state of Quintana Roo, in the Yucatán Peninsula of Mexico.
This model is available in several versions:
- Actual state (ruins)
- Hypothetical reconstruction
- Multi-part / Multi-color files for the cliff, grass, beach, and sea
The ruins of Tulum are situated on 12-meter (39 ft) tall cliffs verlooking the Caribbean Sea. Tulum was a port for the larger, inland city of Cobá.
The pyramid was not a castle, but a temple. That's just the name Spanish conquistadors gave to structures like this because it's what they were familiar with. This shrine marks a break in the barrier reef that is opposite the site. Here there is a cove and landing beach in a break in the sea cliffs that would have been perfect for trading canoes coming in.
Tulum is the third most visited archeological site in Mexico, due to its proximity to touristic centers such as Cancún (from Wikipedia).
MiniWorld 3D is excited to bring this historical model to life as a homage to all the people of Mexico. This model was designed by founder Dany Sánchez, from scratch. Please give credit, it's all about spreading culture and education!
