Description
Hi again! I don't want to sound whiny or toxic here since I love the design (it was intended to be a Spanish convent) but I do think this model is flawed. I have now attempted the bottom floor twice and in both cases (from 83% done-ish) the pillars start to snap as the arches begin to form. I think the pillars are too thin for the sideways motion that grows as they flute outwards into the arches. In my first try I tried gluing the first three pillars back (NOT easy to do) but gave up as the fourth one snapped, and in my new overnight print five have snapped. I have a brand new Ender 3 1S Plus and I printed the first one with 15% infill and standard settings. My second try I re-leveled the printer, upped the infill to 25%, added in-theory unnecessary supports on the pillars, pulled down the travel speed from 120mm/s to 80mm/s in case that was the problem, and I even paused it when the round parts of the pillars began to square up and put a layer of PVA glue on the pillars to strengthen them. Still I woke up today with five broken pillars. The sideways picture is of my first attempt with glued pillars, and the other two of the second try. I think it's clear from the pictures that when the fluting into the arches reaches a specific length/width the risk of snapped pillars go up as the pendulum of each printed layer increases. I really like the look of your Ivory models here but this is just now a very unfortunate teaser since I see no chance of me buying the rest. An impertinent question; have you test printed this model yourselves? It is very odd that Cura cannot slice it properly, and possibly Creality makes a bad job of It, or it could very well be that my brand new machine is rubbish, but it would still be nice to know if it works flawlessly for you?
