Description
I have printed 2 of these large clocks. I had a ton of fun getting the first one (purple gears) to run. It turned out that I don't read instructions well and all my issues were user error!!!
I got it running well and gave it to one of my grand kids.
My 2nd clock was printed with wood PLA. The 3 colors I used were:
AMOLEN Ebony Wood PLA
AMOLEN Dark Wood Walnut PLA
Gizmo Dorks Wood Filament (The color is not stated, but it is like bamboo)
My Prusa i3 MK3 printed it well. I experienced a bit of elephant's foot that I scraped off with an X-Acto knife, a bit of stringing that was easily removed by hand and a failure on one part.
I printed a back-frame-lower-met.stl. I test fit the top and bottom parts, and when I removed the top, it tore off one of the side stanchions about 3 inches up. I reprinted it, and did another test fit. I put a screw in each side, and the screw split the tops off the stanchions where the screw hole is. I included a photo.
I printed that part a 3rd time upping the infill to 50%. I used 1/2" screws instead of 3/4" when securing the top frame.
I hung it on the wall and and it is working like a charm! I'll get it adjusted over the next few weeks, and I'll be keeping this one! It looks really good.
As always - Thanks StevePeterson!
I have this running +/- 1 minute per day. It is really impressive. I'm thinking of reprinting the hands in the bamboo color to see them better, but this clock is the BEST.
