What a fantastic design!
The custom supports didn't work for me as their base was too small to adhere reliably. They got knocked off during printing and ruined the print. Instead I used PrusaSlicer's "split -> to objects" feature to remove the custom supports, then painted on regular supports on the places they had been supporting, and that printed perfectly.
