This is a pin supporting DC statehood, an issue I am passionate about as a Washingtonian. I will take some time to explain DC statehood, then describe the print. DC is a city of 700,000 people with our own diverse culture, just like any state. By population, we are larger than Vermont and Wyoming. However, we are not a state. Therefore, we do not have any senators and only one non-voting representative. This is highly unfair and we basically do not have a vote. Furthermore, anything passed by DC legislature is reviewed by Congress and they have veto power. This wouldn't happen in any other state. And as if that is not enough, we still must pay taxes despite the fact that we do not have congressional representation. Taxation without representation is tyranny, that is one of the founding principles of america.
And now, I will talk about the print. The base is in the shape of DC and the letters say DC51 for the 51st state. Use a fine layer height (I use .1) and there is no need for support. I painted we acryilic paints in the colors of the DC flag. Once printed, glue a clothes pin to the back of the print and take wherever you want.
Support DC Statehood and Enjoy!
