Trigger Point
When I did some window shopping, a auto-resize stand caught my eye.
It can hold a phone and a tablet/laptop in the same time.
I feel I can make one with my 3D printer.
Task and objective
My latest notebook is a Intel EVO certified model so the thickness would not exceed 18mm. So this object is designed to adapt to objects that have thickness below 18mm.
I think it will be a good idea if I can make use of the elasticity of PLA (other thermal plastic may also work) and make a stand that adapt itself to object of any thickness automatically.
Moreover, the object should able to print in place without using any screw for assembly.
Design
I come up with a compliant structure design that use the weight of the object (gravity) to move the gripper to correct location. Beside, the object is totally print in place and can be used after removing the circular pads for platform adhesion
Two different size was uploaded. The shorter one is good for light objects such as mouses and keyboard. The longer one is for laptops.
It is suggest to add anti-slip mat to contact surfaces to increase gripping force.
Remember to face the circular pads downward, they are placed for proper platform adhesion.
Please ensure the seam position is not located at ends of linking part, otherwise the product will break easily.
If you are not sure how to select location of seam in your slicer, then select "RANDOM".
