Description
William Thomas Stead (Jul 5, 1849- Apr 15, 1912 (Titanic victim)) was an English investigative journalist and editor of the Pall Mall Gazette. While editor, Stead worked on improving journalistic reporting and presentation. Stead is best known for his article “The Maiden Tribute of Modern Babylon”, a series of articles condemning child prostitution (click here for more). His work lead to the passing of the “Criminal Law Amendment Act 1885”
