×Winter House
This was the most complicated, simple build I have ever done.
It all started with a brick. A simple oblong, rounded and with the front slight inflated.
Then I made a row of them, copying them over and over again. I changed each brick very slightly in terms of scal and inflation to give it that "handmade" feel. Then started copying the rows vertically to make a wall.
Using this technique left loads of gaps between the bricks so I created another larger oblong to sit behind the bricks and basically be the mortar.
With a bricked wall completed, it was then a case of adding the windows.
Using the same bricks, scaled smaller, I created an arched profile and used the "Follow Path" tool to get the bricks into an arch formation. I then added the veritical pillars.
I copied one of the window objects and inserted a 180 degree sphere (like a half moon shape). I substracted the window from this, which left a jagged shape I could use to cut holes into the wall in which I would place the windows.
The snow was the fun part, spheres, flattened and unioned together then sculpted to be snow-like.
The wood was made in much the same way! An oblong, rounded and the sculpted with the crease tool to add the grain to the door and the storage top. Scaled up these became the beams for the roof.
After all that it was a case of unioning it all together.
I had a few problems making this but the one tip I could give anyone is model BIG. Like really big! It stops all kinds of issues when sculpting and unioning. When you're done, scale back down. Trust me it will save you hours. I wish I'd known this before I started :)
