×Friction Carry - Safety Release Cable Setup
This Device allows a length of string to be temporarily attached to the Bebop 2 drone in order to carry it over an area inaccessible to humans and common machinery, such as a chasm or steep drop.
The nature of the attachment allows it to act as a safety release mechanism in the event that the trailing string were to become hooked on a surrounding object.
Uses for the device could include passing string across chasms and between/over high structures for construction, maintenance and extreme sports purposes etc. The string is then used by people to pass across a rope, followed by a heavy duty cable if necessary, both of which are too heavy for a multi-rotor to carry.
All of this can be completed with minimal risk to the drone due to the inherent safety release feature.
The natural flex/spring in the material allows a thin object, such as a piece of string, to be inserted between the two pads and held in place by friction.
This means that if the trailing string were to become entangled in a foreign object while flying it over a chasm or raised object, the string will automatically release from the two pads, as it is only held in place by a small amount of friction.
This prevents a possible crash that could be caused if the string were to be tied or otherwise attached to the drone.
