Sometimes an organism is delivered to a barge to lurk in the Creature Pit, but proves already far too large for such to accommodate. Other times, a beast within the Pit has fed enough that it grows big enough to escape! Rather than hunt down the interloper and get rid of it, barge captains often let the beast roam the arena, providing an animated, hostile threat to the Helots.
