Dwarves consider pigs to be far more intelligent than horses, especially since pigs can thrive in dwarven mine, never seeing the light of the sun, which cannot be said for horses.
War Pigs are frequently used to carry heavily armored dwarven champions and berserkers, who ride the larges boars straight into battle lines of goblins and orcs. In those circumstances, their war boars are frightful and deadly additional weapon, armored and with blood and gore encrusted tusks, while bloodlust shines in their small eyes.
War pigs are never used for food, simply because even dwarves do not know what they have eaten on various battlefields.
Many dwarven clans use rams as mounts, especially those who dwell high in the mountains. Rams are used by scouts and mounted shepherds who tend the herds of goats and mammoths on the mountain slopes, following them into lowlands as the winter progresses. Rams are used to draw carts and wagons and as beasts of burden as well, sometimes in combination with war pigs. They are slaughtered and eaten only when they can’t be of other use and then their deads are celebrated as if they were mighty warriors.
