Description
This statue was found in the ancient cemetery in Stadiou Street, Athens.
The figure is rendered in the type of the Large Herculaneum Woman. She wears a full-length chiton and a himation that covers her head and swathes her entire body.
The statue is a copy dating from the 1st century A.D. of a famous original carved about 320 B.C., probably by Praxiteles.
