Description
A naked woman with a conspicuous headdress is shown. In the holes of the headdress, gold earrings were once attached, as can be found in comparable specimens. This type is typical for the beginning of the 2nd millennium BC. in the northern Syrian region. The idols come mainly from the Orontes area. They were found in sacred and private settings. They probably possessed divine character. They may have been made in the sanctuaries, where they were consecrated and then used in domestic worship. But it is also conceivable to see praying in them.
