Description
This scene depicts a triumphal procession: one the left a litter, borne by two men, carries a trophy of enemy arms and two Parthian barbarians in chains: on the right is a triumphal arch with male figures, perhaps the musicians who accompained the procession. Similarities with the coin series issued by Septimius Severus in 194-195 AD, lead the relief to be dated to the beginning of the Severan period. According to a different interpretation, it could be related to the triumph of Lucius Verus over the Parthians in 166A.D.
