Description
The sinuous movement of the body and head position of Rodin's Funerary Spirit is reminiscent of falling youth on the metope. Rodin first exhibited this sculpture without arms in Brussels in 1899. In 1900 he showed funerary spirit in his Pavillon de l'Alma during the Universal Exhibition in Paris, placing it on a tall column with the left arm behind the head.
