Hand Wheel for Table Saw, Lathe, Drum Sander and other Machines
Hand Wheel for Table Saw, Lathe, Drum Sander and other Machines

This hand wheel was borne when I was busy building my own table saw and needed two hand wheels to drive the Tilt and Lift mechanisms.
I suppose it can be used for many other machines such as lathes etc.
The idea was to print this and then cast it in aluminium and attach a wooden handle to it.
I'm still finalising the parameterised version of the scad file and will upload that soon.
This version specs:
112mm Diameter
M8 (8mm) center shalf.
M6 (6mm) hole for handle
Update (v3):
Brought to wheel a bit forward from the anchor point.
Update (v3 Top & Bottom)
I split the wheen in half along its axis so that I can make greensand moulds and turn it into aluminium. Have a look at the print photo's.

Post-Printing
For Aluninium Casting
Sand or vapor smooth with Acetone (if you print with ABS). Paint with a plastic primer to further smooth.
Form with greensand and cast with aluminium.
Sand outer edge of hand-wheel smooth and leave the rest with the sand texture.
Add handle of your choice.
Also, flip the bottom part to print upside down so that removing supports leaves the inside surfaces to be sanded down, which will not be visible after casting.
How I Designed This
OpenSCAD Quicky
Just pulled this one together quickly one night. Thought it looked okay.
