DESIGN
This Trophy represents the capability of additive manufacturing, the shapes in this design are impossible to achieve with common manufactury technologies.
The trophy incorporates both organic and technical shapes as 3d printing is used in engineering and artistic fields.
It is made of 2 parts:
MJF
The MJF part has been designed knowing that this kind of 3d printing doesn't need any solid support structures, so it is perfect for high draft angles found in lettering and lattice structures.
SLA
The SLA part has been designed with internal channels and microfeatures
Both parts have been designed for the manufacturing process, they are light, with minimal cross-section and supportless.
Material and finish
SLA: ABS-like translucent/clear, Surface finish: unfinished
MJF: PA 12 Black
The parts have been modeled with Catia v5 and Fusion 360
The images have been rendered with Fusion 360
MJF
mjf part should be printed without support as the powder bed act as one.
SLA
SLA part should not require any support, as there aren't any overhangs that can't be completed with bridging (2mm max) and no angle is lower than 65°
