Print at highest resolution possible, .1mm ideal.
No supports needed, just print each part in the orientation provided.
Avoid stringing and surface artifacts to ensure a smooth operation of the transmission. If needed, sand or clean the parts to ensure everything fits and slides smoothly.
- Anular gears
- Planet gear x6
- Reel axle
- Reel cover
- Step 1 output gear
- Step 2 output gear
- Transmissiion cover / reel guide
- Handle crank
- Alignment plate x2
- Shaft to handle coupler
- Shaft to transmission coupler
As indicated in the file names, the alignment plate needes to be printed twice, and the planetery gear 6 times.
The Red-bull can needs to have both the top and bottom lids removed, I used a Dremel for cutting them and sanding the edges.
4 holes need to be drilled on the side of the can, 2 on the bottom, 2 on the top. The parts named "Anular gears" and "Base" can be placed in the can to mark the holes. I used the Dremel in a low speed setting to do these holes as well.
2 M3 x14mm flat head screws
1 M6 x 20mm socket head screw
A piece of heavy duty string or cord of the desired length (2mm thick max.).
Test fit all the parts prior to final assembly following the exploded diagram. Everything should fit and run smoothly. Take into account that the tolerances are tight, so any deformation will jam the transmission.
For final assembly inside the can, start from the bottom and build your way to the top (left to right in the exploded view).
Apply an oil lubricant liberally (ideally high temperature synthetic oil, but kitchen oil will work just fine) for all the gears and transmision parts.
Videos of assembly and operation will be coming shortly.
Thanks for your interest and happy printing!
