Dungeon Angar Themed Zone
The idea behind the terrain is the disc is divided up into 3 zones - Contact Zone, Range Zone and Outside Zone.
- Contact Zone - At the center of TZP is a 6 inch area where the action is. This includes dialog, snooping, pick pocking, disarming or setting traps and melee combat.
- Range Zone - This zone surrounds the contact and creatures in the range zone can see the action, cast spells, shoot arrows, huck hatchets, spears and chuck explosion potions into the center zone. They can not be hit by melee characters inside the contact zone nor can they hit with melee unless they move into the contact zone. Good spot for casters and archers.
- Outside Zone - Any players or creatures in the outside zone can not see or hear the Contact Zone. They may be able to see the Range Zone if the game master allows it.
The TZP Zones are about 17.5 inchs wide and the centers are exchangable. This gives a little more more in terms of stylized look plus when the center is removed top is removed the base becomes a rift in the forest, a cellar in a tavern and a pit in a dungeon.

Printing Settings
We have did our share of testing with FDM printers and over the years it’s been a push pull of settings. We wanted a strong piece that was efficient and cost effective. For strength most of us target a higher infill. What we found is at 20% infill it seems to give the print strength, but! Even at 20% when it comes to little pokey things on the piece the infill might not line up with small protruding things like mushrooms, bulbous fungi, branch, roots and vines etc. Many times they can be hollow and break off on impact.
After much testing found with a thick exterior shell the protruding things are much more resilient to impact. This also means with the thick shell we can lower the infill and lower we did! We took it to 5%. The prints feel hollow and light weight but those tiny extremities are stronger.
Here is our current FDM printer settings.
- .10 layer height
- .9 top shell thickness
- .7 bottom shell thickness
- 5% infill
