Colleague at work was showing off his Nintendo Switch. I was amazed at how tiny the controllers are compared to my hands. Even though I don't own a Switch (yet), some ideas were coming to mind. My inspiration came from cellphone covers that have a ring affixed on the back. I feel this solution is an improvement over the wrist strap by allowing you to still play while relaxing your fingers, prevent the controller from falling out of your hands, and provides stability while moving around.
Printing - A little bit of support may be required in the rail slot. I recommend printing the rings in a semi-flex material. The cradles can be printed in a rigid material (i.e PLA, PETG). For a cool effect, print the cradles in a thermochromatic filament (like the picture) so it changes colors when held for extended periods of time.
Assembly - push the ring through the hole in the back and bend the flaps out. Slide the controller in till it snaps into place. Reverse to remove. No little dinky buttons to fiddle with and slide. Tip: use a heat gun to shape the ring with a permanent bend.
