So we have this nice old timey hand mixer that was handed down from my wifes grandmother. Even though the handle was kinda busted and it made it hard to use, we kept it because of that connection. Thankfully 3d printing came to the rescue.
Using the photo below I copied the handle shape into a vector and imported that into Fusion360 then extruded and shaped it. Equally I took the measurements from the actual handle to create that as well.
It turned out really great and I now use it nearly every weekend to make omelettes and so forth.
if you want to try something like this, Inkwell is the vector software I used. It's open source and free to use.
I printed this in PLA using a 2.0 resolution. I did enable tree supports in cura and printed using 100% infill for strength.
Since I used PLA we hand wash this as I don't trust it in the dish washer so I recommend PETG perhaps as a better alternative.
Lastly I was able to get the metal part of the handle off by heating it then tapping it off with a small hammer. It went on exactally the same way and has been solid.
