This model is provided cut and keyed ready for slicing and printing (see printing details). Custom supports for FDM printing also provided for most parts (some slicer-generated supports also required in some cases).
Also includes a full-figure version, in case you'd prefer to cut and key the model for yourself.
Note: The STLs provided do not contain colour information. Colour renders in the gallery are to show my design intent, and to give you ideas when painting your print.
The STL files are provided in the orientations I used for my successful test prints.
All of my test prints were sliced in Cura and printed on my FDM printer at 0.1mm layer height. I used Line supports with support interface.
The details given apply to FDM, unless otherwise stated.
Base
The solid base is intended for FDM printing, and the hollow base for SLA. No supports needed for FDM.
Right Leg
I recommend using the custom support* for under the foot. You shouldn't need any other supports. I increased build plate temperature by 5 degrees to ensure adequate adhesion.
Left Foot
I recommend using the custom support* for under the foot. You shouldn't need any other supports. Be careful when removing the custom support! I broke off the key on my first test print.
Left Leg
I recommend using the custom support* in the orientation provided. I couldn't get good enough build plate adhesion with the leg the other way up, but if you can, you shouldn't need any supports. If you use the custom supports, you shouldn't need any other supports, but you'll need good cooling to prevent curling where the thumb meets the hand.
Hip
I recommend using the custom support*. You will need support under the frills on the right hand side of the model, and just a little support under the lowest part of the right buttock/leg. The top frill around the waistband shouldn't need any support.
Upperbody
I recommend using the custom supports*. You shouldn't need any other supports. I placed it so the points of the coattails are just off the build plate to avoid flat spots. I think it should be stable enough with the custom supports.
Head
The supports generated by Cura worked well. It shouldn't be necessary to have supports for anything except the undersides of the hair/jaw/neck.
Be careful when removing the supports. I broke the key for the neck off carelessly.
Hat
The supports generated by Cura worked well.
Left Arm
I recommend using the custom support*. No other supports should be necessary. I used a 6mm brim and a 5-degree higher build plate temperature to ensure good adhesion.
Right Arm
I recommend using the custom support*. No other supports should be necessary. I used a 6mm brim and a 5-degree higher build plate temperature to ensure good adhesion.
Right Hand
You shouldn't need any supports. I used a 6mm brim and a 5-degree higher build plate temperature, and I also cleaned my build plate before starting the print to maximize adhesion, because the contact area is really small compared to the height.
Juggling Pin
You shouldn't need any supports. I did use a 5-degree higher build plate temperature again just in case adhesion was a problem. I didn't use a brim, but I think I should have because the first few layers seemed to suffer shrinkage.
*How to use custom supports in Cura:
You need to download the "Mesh Tools" plugin from the Cura Marketplace.
Import the STL file, right click the model and go to Mesh Tools > Split model into parts. Select each custom support, click on "Per Model Settings" on the left of the screen, and then choose "Print as support".
