For the competition I started the design process with brainstorming interesting and nontraditional ways that a clock could be represented. The design I stuck with was focused on making the numbers move to indicate the time rather than having hands that point to the numbers. I decided that a "tread" concept where gears moved the numbers around in a circle would be both interesting and fun. The idea then came to me to integrate a tank theme and have one of the 12 numbers on each piece of the tread moving around (with the top, middlemost tread indicating the current hour). The overall accuracy of this clock is lessened slightly, since the minutes are determined by the gap in between numbers but overall this shouldn't be too big of an issue. This design is also requires the inclusion of a stepper motor (or other rotational power source to connect to the inner beams) to power the tread gear and it needs to be tuned to make the tread do 1/12 turn per hour.
*The tread had to be scaled down to 90% to fit my print bed and the rest of the components were modeled based on that scale. So basically: print the tread at 90% and the rest of them at 100%
