Sometimes those young dwarves who haven’t grown a beard just yet are given their father’s or grandfather’s old blade and what pieces of armor can be scrounged up and then set out into the world to prove themselves – “until they grow a beard”. This can last for decades and they rarely return to their clans before they achieve great fame and make a name for themselves.
