Description
This set also has potential, though there as some easily corrected historical inaccuracies that could be easily corrected to make this a better set. The most glaring deficiency that is apparent even on figures as small as 20mm is that the lorica segmentata type armor is very inaccurate, though this can be easily corrected if the designer looked at some references. Likewise, there sandals look like something out of an old "Hercules" movies, when there are plenty of good references. It Gladius sword is rather clunky and over engineered with its multi faceted blade, when a simple, two sided and narrower Pompeii type Gladius would be more accurate. This set also shares the same major flaws as the Greek set in that there is only one style of helmet, when in fact, there were many variations in use at the same time. You can see some of the variations in the attached photo of the cover of this book I wrote, which would be a very good guide for you to make more accurate figures. Additions to this set which would make it far better would be an early Imperial siginifier and cornicen. It would also be great to included optional shields with 3d raised relief based on both sculptural evidence and new archaeological discoveries such as metal lightning bolts found on the Roman battlefield of Kalkriese. In order to make this set useful, there needs to be a companion set of Early Imperial Auxilliary infantry and cavalry, and hopefully sets of enemy troops like 1st Century Germans and Celts, so war gamers and diormaa makers will have "both sides" for a battle. Another thing I hope you will consider to improve all of your Greeks and Romans is to make their bodies look a bit more realistic, like real people wearing the armor. right now they are so short and "squatty" in proportion to the head size that they look more like dwarves than they do normal men.
