Design Brief

Many of us are lucky enough to own a camera, but we all know how annoying it can be when a part is lost or broken, and the camera is no longer complete. Ordering the part can be a long a difficult process, so instead of going through all the trouble, why not 3D print it?

This is where you come in.

MyMiniFactory have another spare parts design challenge for you.

For this challenge, you must design a camera part before midnight on the 31st March 2018 to have the chance of winning one of our $250 prizes. You can upload as many designs as you want, so the more you upload the more chances of winning. The number of cash prizes will depend on the number of submissions:

1-50 submissions: 1x $250

51-100 submissions: 2x $250

101-150 submissions: 3x $250 and so on...

The older the camera, the more difficult it is to find parts. So if you design a part of a camera that is 15 years old or older, you DOUBLE your chances of winning: (1 entry = 1 chance // 2 entries = 2 chances // 1 "Old Camera" entry = 2 chances)

Upload Essentials

Once uploaded, make sure to include two pictures:

  • One of the camera spare part on a plain background
  • One of the camera spare part on the camera
  • We also need the brand and model number of the camera.

Don’t forget the part should be adapted for 3D printing. It must work on your camera and not already exist on the MyMiniFactory interwebs!

    Good luck!

    Top Tips

So you want to win a design competition?

Here are some top tips to help you save time:

    1. Be precise in your measuring and designing, even a 0.5mm difference can prevent fitting. Make sure it will actually fit.

    2. Make it as simple and easily printable as possible

    3. Reinforce susceptible breakage areas.

    4. Check the MyMiniFactory site before you start designing. Nothing worse than designing a part and finding it already uploaded! We don't want you to waste your time and energy.

    5. You can find help on the internet to locate it. Write the Model number, not the serial number.

    6. Once your design is approved, post it on social media with: #CameraParts @MyMiniFactory
