This is my entry for Joel Telling's/3D Printing Nerd's spool holder contest.
Introducing the 3DPN Micro Spool Holder.
My design is:
* Easy & Quick to Print
* Easy to Use
* Fully Tested & Functional
This small spool holder easily clips on and off anywhere on Joel's filament racks.
It uses a curved design to allow a bit of flexibility to compensate for inaccuracies in the wood beams and ensures a snug fit.
It doesn't even require printing the actual spool holder arm. It accepts the common screw-on style spool holder arm that is used by Creality, Wanhao, Monoprice, etc. which I know many of us, including Joel, already own. Even if you don't, print one out! There are many to choose from online.
This is not just a great spool holder for Joel's filament racks, but a great spool holder for anyone! I use it myself over the original, top mount spool holder. See my pictures for an example of how easy it is to use 1.5" x 3/4" wood beams to create an open and stable desktop spool holder.
I also have to give a shout out and BIG thanks to thingiverse user rawlogic for his Make Select Spool Arm https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2732269, which I adapted the screw threading into my design. This was actually my first 3D model and I do not yet have the skills to model screw threading.
